Filters

Positive Air Filtration can give you advice on the various filtering options and provide installation and/or delivery of various filter packages. We have stock for various brands of air filtration units.

P1 Filter: This filter offers protection against coarse dust and protects the remaining filters of the filter package with a MAC (Maximum Allowable Concentration) value of 10 mg / m? or higher. This filters has coarse pleats to catch this dust. These substances are generally referred to as substances from dust class 2a and meet the EN779 standard (the Netherlands).

P3 HEPA Filter: This filter has a tight pleat like a respirator with an efficiency greater than 99.99%. This type of filter provides protection against the inhalation of toxic dust with a MAC value of 0.1 mg / m or less. For example, asbestos, human-carcinogenic substances, bacteria, viruses, proteolytic enzymes, and heavy metals can be filtered out with a P3 HEPA filter. These filters are each individually tested by the manufacturer and comply with the standard EN1822 (the Netherlands).

Activated carbon filters A, B, E, K, Hg, ABEK or combinations of these types meet the EN14387 standard. The activated carbon filter provides protection against the inhalation of vapors of toxic or unpleasant substances. The different types of carbon are treated with substances that increase their adsorption of these different vapor and gasses. One gram of activated carbon has the surface area of two Wimbledon tennis courts! The life of the filters depends on temperature, relative humidity and gas concentration. Extended usage (24/7 use) will also affect filter life. Choose your activated carbon filter carefully, and be sure that your choice will filter out the contaminants present in your environment.

B Inorganic Gases such as Chloride, Hydrogen Sulphide, Hydrogen Cyanide and Cyanide
E Vapors and Acid Gases such as Sulfur Dioxide, Hydrochloric Acid, Hydrogen Chloride and Flouride, and Nitrogen Dioxide
K Ammonia Vapors and Odour as found in waste and composting applications
Hg Mercury Vapors and Mercury Compounds
ABEK A combination of type A, B, E and K carbons to absorb a multitude of different gases
When changing the filter pack:
  • Clean the filter with a damp cloth, never blow out the filter!
  • Dispose of filters as hazardous waste

Placing a new filter pack:
  • Write the date on the new filters, and fill in the Filter Log Book with serial number and installation date
  • Ensure that the filters go into the box in the correct order! Activated Carbon filters should go in first, in the bottom of the box. On top of the Activated Carbon filter(s), place the P3 HEPA filter, and then the P1 Dust filter should sit on the very top of the filter stack, right up against the lid of the unit.
